Masked thieves fail in their attempt to shoot a Co-op ATM
Two masked men wrapped a heavy chain around an ATM and tried to use a car to pull it out of a convenience store. But the attempted robbery failed and they fled without cash.
They pulled up outside the Co-op on Dudlow Green Road in Appleton, Warrington. Hooded and dressed in black tracksuits and sneakers, they then fled in the vehicle which was found abandoned nearby.
The incident shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday May 31. Detective Constable Ian Morris, from the local Warrington Police Unit, said: “We believe the men came prepared to rob the cash machine but it failed and they quickly left the area.

“We are carrying out many investigations and as part of the investigation we are asking anyone who has CCTV or dash cam footage that could help us get in touch. I would also like to appeal to anyone who has information or who saw what happened to contact the police.”

This is the second incident on the premises of the cooperative this year. In January, two staff members were forced into the store as it closed at night, by two men armed with a large knife and a hammer, demanding money and cigarettes.
