Polish death metal band Decapitated filmed a music video for the track “Iconoclast”. Directed by Marcin Halerz and featuring guest vocals from Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn, the clip can be viewed below.
Speaking about the song and the video, guitarist Wacław ‘Vogg’ Kiełtyka said: “For this occasion, we went back to the studio where it all started, where we recorded the drums for the album, to feel a amazing energy and cool vibes while making the video.
“As you probably know, we have an exceptional guest, metal legend and friend of ours, one and only Robb Flynn. His part of the track has become one of my favorite parts of this album.
“It’s a huge honor to have Robb on this project, and I hope you’ll dig a song. It’s a different song, not crazy like most songs on this album, but still powerful, fast and overwhelming .
Robb Flynn added: “When Vogg asked me to sing on this Decapitated track, I was honored to play with such crazy pioneers and musicians.
“When he sent the track, I was blown away by this incredible melodic section in the middle. When he told me the song was called ‘Iconoclast’, I knew exactly what to say. An iconoclast is “a destroyer of images used in religious worship”.
“This song was meant to address the growing hateful and fascist evangelical movement that is growing around the world. Cruel men who wish to hide their cruelty under a cloak of faith and fanaticism.
Decapitated have released an eighth full-length studio album. Culture of cancer on May 27, 2022 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Wacław ‘Vogg’ Kiełtyka commented: “Finally, after so many months of waiting, we have achieved this. Expectations were high, and we also gave ourselves a huge challenge with this album. But I think the hard work pays off. We had the opportunity to bring together some incredible people who took care of the production and helped us to give the best of ourselves with this album.
“Again, Jarek Szubrycht (Carnival is forever, 2011) wrote for us amazing words about the disproportion between dreams, ambitions and aspirations of humanity. The lead engineer for the album was Tomasz Zed Zalewski (Anticult2017), David Castillo, responsible for mixing the album, and Ten Jensen for the final mastering touches.
“For the cover, for the first time, we worked with Fabio Timpanaro, an Italian artist whose art perfectly describes what we wanted to tell through visual art.
“Don’t misunderstand the meaning of the album’s title. It has a much larger context. You will be surprised at what we delivered this time.
The song “Hello Death” features guest vocals from singer Jinjer Tatiana Shmayluk, while the Machine Head frontman contributes guest vocals to the track “Iconoclast.”
